The Cayuga County Water and Sewer Authority (WSA) is charting a course for water and sewer infrastructure needs for the next 20 years. Financial resources to fund public works improvements within the County, region, and State are scarce. Cayuga County also retains a rural charm that should be preserved. WSA is undertaking this study on behalf of the citizens to identify current needs, anticipate future needs, and develop a strategic plan to meet those needs in a socially, environmentally, and economically sustainable manner.
For those jurisdictions with public water and sewer infrastructure, WSA will evaluate and prioritize the condition of existing infrastructure. For those jurisdictions currently without public water and sewer infrastructure, WSA will be evaluating the feasibility of implementing these services.
Additionally, with the recent blooms of blue-green algae on Owasco Lake, WSA will be evaluating the feasibility of developing alternative sources of water supply. The end result of this effort will be a comprehensive plan for efficient operation and maintenance of water and sewer systems within Cayuga County.
